Troy Henderson is a fiction writer from Brisbane, Australia, where he has lived his whole life aside from a two-year stint in London.
He has a Bachelor of Popular Music and a Masters in Journalism.
Troy’s twenties and early thirties were spent playing in bands and immersed in music, and he turned to novel writing seriously in his mid-thirties.
His first book, Head Grenade, was shortlisted in the Hawkeye Publishing Manuscript Development Prize and the Queensland Writers Centre’s Adaptable and Publishable Programs, respectively.
His short stories have longlisted in the Australian Writers’ Centre Furious Fiction competition, and placed in the Genrecon Short Story competition, and FLEUR Flash Fiction Contest.
Head Grenade is the first novel of a Brisbane trilogy, featuring different characters and situations but all set in the same city and fictional universe. The second book is a dark humour crime novel, River City, and third book is an urban drama, Rocket Surgery.
Q&A with author Troy Henderson
Things I like
Reading, watching movies/shows, listening to or playing music, record collecting, new experiences, exercising, doing fun stuff with my wife, seeing my family, travelling, drinking beer and hanging out with my mates.
Impossible, but my favourite authors are Stephen King, Haruki Murakami, Chuck Palahniuk, Harlan Coben, David Baldacci, Roald Dahl, and I’m going to have to stop now because there are too many.
Pulp Fiction, the Rocky movies (all except V), Back 2 the future, A Clockwork Orange, Terminator 2, Jurassic Park, Spirited Away, This is Spinal Tap, Dumb and Dumber, Predator. Again, I’m going to have to stop because the list is getting too long.
